Herwig Weidle takes over management of the Digital Solutions division


On June 1, 2022, Herwig Weidle took over management of the Digital Solutions division of Deutsche MTM-Gesellschaft mbH. The previous head of software development succeeds Franz Coriand in his new position, who has reoriented himself professionally. We spoke to the 45-year-old about new tasks and personal goals.

Herwig, you come from the classic developer corner and are now responsible for the entire Digital Solutions business area, including sales and strategy. what does that mean to you?

First and foremost an exciting challenge. I have respect to the task, but I’m not afraid to tackle it. As head of software development and member of the board of directors of MTM ASSOCIATION e. V. I was always close to the action, I was also present at many customer meetings and was able to learn from the experiences of many committed colleagues.

How do you deal with it?

Developing the tried and tested, setting new impulses and bringing in my individual perspective – this triad will determine my actions.

Is the developer in you conducive to this?

In any case. As a developer, I have always been involved with innovation – and know the structured, solution-oriented way of working associated with software development. I’m also willing to try new things. In the new function, I can transfer this experience to the new areas of responsibility.

Which topics do you want to promote as head of the Digital Solutions business area?

Basically, I still see great market potential for our main product TiCon as standard software for MTM applications. On the sales side, the focus for me is on digital sales, social selling and the development of a solution-oriented offer. I can rely on the team leaders in software development. You’re taking on more responsibility now, so you’ve got my back.

Are there other tasks that are high on your to-do list?

The topic of customer satisfaction is important to me, and particularly the satisfaction of our maintenance customers, i.e. the companies that work with a product from the Dresden software house. A survey on product and service quality is planned for this year.

Cloud first, is that what many software manufacturers say – including Deutsche MTM-Gesellschaft mbH?

Let me put it this way: We have our sights firmly set on the cloud. TiCon for SAP, the software solution for recording, managing and processing time data directly in SAP, is being used successfully by a large number of companies in the automotive, electrical, machine and aircraft industries. In the “Co-Innovated with SAP” program, we are working as a certified SAP Silver Partner with the best experts and technologies in the industry on a new TiCon solution for the S/4HANA cloud.

And what about the development of other cloud products?

We made the first serve with MTM-Easy®, the cloud-based software solution for determining benchmark times. Their advantages are obvious: flexible mobile or desktop use, reliable time data as a factual decision-making aid – and all this without training and software installation, simply and conveniently in the cloud. Our second cloud product will be launched this autumn: TiCon for Web. This is a SaaS solution in which, like MTM-Easy®, we also take over the operation of the software for the customer. The solution is designed in such a way that it is limited to the essential TiCon functionalities and can be easily integrated into other planning systems. The product is currently being tested by selected pilot customers.
