By the beginning of August of the MTM training year 2023, more than 3,000 participants worldwide had taken part in an e-learning course, a webinar or a classroom event. The dissemination of MTM trainings stands out in this regard: Last year, over 800 trainings took place in more than 20 countries around the world. This includes trainings in countries such as Malaysia, Finland, Honduras and the Philippines. This shows the worldwide expansion of MTM trainings. “The positive development and dissemination are largely due to the cooperation in the One-MTM network. Furthermore, it’s due to the joint use of the training platform (training.mtm.org) of the MTM ASSOCIATION e. V.,” says Prof. Dr. Peter Kuhlang, Managing Director of the MTM ASSOCIATION e. V.
Quality improvements, standardization and innovations in teaching content
Colleagues from the MTM Academy, the MTM Institute and the MTM ASSOCIATION e. V. are currently meeting at the MTM Institute’s headquarters in Zeuthen near Berlin for this year’s Summer Academy. The focus will be on quality improvements, worldwide standardization and innovations in teaching content. “I’m delighted to be able to take part in the Summer Academy as an instructor. So, this is how I learn about the latest developments at the Academy. We are currently revising the EAWS exams to make them even more user-friendly,” says Heike Schumann, EAWS and MTM instructor at the Deutsche MTM-Gesellschaft mbH.
In addition to the revision of existing examinations and the creation of new ones, module tests for further building block systems are planned: This concerns the exams for the individual MTM process module systems (e.g. MTM-UAS®) as well as EAWS®. Besides, the practitioner refreshers and license courses are concerned in parts. “Feedback from in-house instructors regarding the online exams and module tests via the MTM ASSOCIATION e. V. ticket system is always particularly helpful in the further development of the training materials,” says Dr. Thomas Finsterbusch, head of the MTM Academy.
Another focus is on revising existing translations of the English-language teaching materials and on translating new content. The Summer Academy team led by Dr. Thomas Finsterbusch, and Manuela Ostermeier of the Digitization team will be supported by Simon Taylor, Chairman of the UK MTM Association, from the One-MTM network. For the entire One-MTM network and for the MTM ASSOCIATION e. V., English-language training is becoming increasingly important. Thus, the international exchange is becoming increasingly intensive.
The fusion of MTM and new technologies
Of course, new technologies will also be incorporated into the content of the Summer Academy: The team around Dr. Martin Benter, Team Leader Digitization & Automation of MTM Methods, is looking at how digital content such as MTMmotion® can be integrated into teaching. Otherwise, new teaching concepts are required and need to be developed.
The Summer Academy was rounded off by a joint paddling trip with the management team in the Spreewald. The next Summer Academy is planned for 2024, again at the training site in Zeuthen.-
