After four years of existence, the One-MTM partner network has something special to celebrate: the 22,222nd certificate for successfully completed MTM training! The certificate holder is Tomáš Slamený, industrial engineer and moderator of CIP workshops at the Škoda Auto plant in Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic. We spoke with him about his personal MTM career and the operational application of the method standard.
Tomáš, how did you get to know the MTM method?
I got to know the MTM method during my work as an industrial engineer and I use the MTM analysis in my daily work in the Industrial Engineering Department.
What made you decide to take the MTM training?
A certified MTM training is necessary to perform MTM analyses according to the regulations and to use the codes correctly. My employer Škoda Auto and my PSI department therefore contacted MTM Czech Republic. I attended the public MTM trainings offered by MTM on MTM-1®, MTM-UAS® and EAWS®.
Are the colleagues in your department also trained in MTM?
Oh yes, most of them. We are more than 80 people in Industrial Engineering here at the Mladá Boleslav plant. As far as I know, all of them are trained in MTM-1® Base, 81 are certified in MTM-UAS® and 71 have EAWS® training.
Tomáš, could you please give us a little insight into your daily work? What challenges are you and the department facing?
The most important task, and of course the biggest challenge in view of the increasing cost pressure, is to increase production efficiency. For us in Industrial Engineering, this means time measurement, optimization of workflows and processes, CIP workshops, and time analysis for new projects. My specific task is to perform MTM analyses and moderate CIP workshops.
Does the use of MTM have concrete advantages for the company?
Yes, definitely. Because we all use a standardized analysis method. We can help each other in all plants and all halls because we have a standard. That is the key point.
