Building Prototypes Is History – Digital Planning Is the Future Standard

When engineers at Audi talk about the future, digitalization plays an extremely prominent role. Industrial engineering cannot escape the issue of constantly reviewing the quality and efficiency of its processes either. However, how can IE meet all the requirements? Audi has now developed a new kind of approach in conjunction with Deutsche MTM-Vereinigung e. V. and other partners in order to press ahead with the digital revolution in Industrial Engineering 4.0.

Miele Relies on Company-Specific MTM Standards

Whether corporations are involved in mass, batch or single-part production – MTM provides the suitable building block system for each type of process. This is proving to be highly useful for the Miele corporation at its factory in Bürmoos, Austria, too. The challenge in the medical engineering division is to plan particularly extensive work content with just small numbers of items – and still keep expenditure as low as possible. The industrial engineering department there was confronted by the issue of whether MTM could be used in a cost-effective manner for planning purposes in the medical engineering sector.

As many as 470 trucks leave the Mercedes-Benz factory in Wörth operated by Daimler AG every day. As in the cars division, the managers face the challenge of shortening development times and reducing manufacturing costs when a new product is launched. As the production department causes most of the manufacturing costs (machining parts and assembly work), it makes sense to start with cost saving or cost prevention measures even in the early phase of the product creation process – i.e. in the product development or design phase.

BMW and Schaeffler: MTM-Practitioner Customized

Communicating well-founded knowledge in a sustainable and cost-efficient manner – that is what corporations require in any contemporary employee qualification program. Deutsche MTM-Vereinigung e. V. is going one step further in its MTM-Practitioner training. Firms are able to kill three birds with one stone – practical training, specific project work and direct incorporation in ongoing operations – by using the in-house training option and the associated integration of topics that are particularly suitable for the corporation. The pioneers of this customized training concept are the MTM member corporations, BMW AG and Schaeffler Technologies AG & Co. KG.
