The students of the industrial engineering bachelor’s degree program at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences recently had the opportunity to learn about the MTM method standard in detail and to apply the knowledge in practice right away. “MTM for the digital design of efficient and ergonomic work” was the topic of a guest lecture by Dr. Fabian Nöhring, Innovation Manager and Project Manager at Deutsche MTM- Gesellschaft mbH, as part of the lecture “Production Engineering”.

MTM China, subsidiary of the German MTM-Gesellschaft mbH and partner in the One-MTM network, hosted the MTM China Forum for Industrial Engineering on July 6, 2023. Olaf Damitz, product planner at Volkswagen in Wolfsburg, and Dr. Thomas Finsterbusch, head of the MTM Academy, presented the key performance indicator eHPU as a new industry standard for design evaluation to industrial engineers, time managers and work planners from numerous companies based in China.
However, the software solution is still compatible with existing SAP ECC 6 systems. The TiCon for SAP software solution is certified annually. This ensures that the current version of the software meets SAP’s strict quality standards and compatibility requirements.
SICK, one of the world’s leading solution providers for sensor-based applications for industrial applications with headquarters in Waldkirch im Breisgau, has been using MTM for 30 years. Goal of the central efficiency team: Away from the method bouquet to the standard!
On March 16, 2023, on Day 1 of LATC2023 in Mannheim, the focus at the MTM ASSOCIATION e. V. theme area will be on designing efficient and ergonomically work systems. Andreas Bochmann, Project Manager Digital Solutions, and Dr. Steffen Rast, Head of Department Ergonomics, both Deutsche MTM-Gesellschaft mbH, will demonstrate how easy MTM-Easy® is to use and how ergonomics assessment with EAWS® works in conjunction with, for example, a motion capturing suit.
To kick off the MTM SUMMIT 2022, a video clip spanned the beginnings of the international MTM methodology standard, current best practices in MTM application, and the future of digital work planning.
In the most recent MTM Practitioners and Instructors Lounge, the focus was on the sustainability of MTM training. Specifically, the question was, what’s next? Who accompanies the freshly graduated MTM practitioner in his first steps, in the proper application of MTM or the adaptation of what has been learned to the concrete situation in the company? More sustainability requires more support from the stakeholders, the panel said.
MTM-HWD®, the new MTM process building block system, which for the first time combines methodical and ergonomic work design in just one step, is supported by a user group founded in February 2022 in its operational application. The third virtual meeting took place on June 24th. We have five questions to Dr. Thomas Finsterbusch, Head of the User Group.
Workplaces arranged in a U-shape, electrically height-adjustable work tables, optimal reach, short distances, flexible provision of materials, individual lighting – SIKO GmbH relies on efficient and ergonomically designed work at the new location in Buchenbach im Breisgau. The manufacturer of measurement and drive technology brought in two specialists to plan and implement modern workplaces in manual assembly: item GmbH, one of the leading providers of modular systems for industrial applications, and Deutsche MTM-Gesellschaft mbH, an expert in prospective planning and design of work systems with the global method standard MTM (Methods-Time Measurement).
