Working better on the last mile

Besser arbeiten auf der letzten Meile

Work in the delivery and delivery services sector in Germany is undergoing a massive upheaval. Since 2019, the volume of deliveries has more than doubled while the number of employees has remained the same. This threatens to massively overload delivery employees. At the same time, there is a lack of ergonomic principles for occupational health and safety in the service sector. MotionMiners GmbH and MTM ASSOCIATION e. V. are currently working on a preliminary study in the parcel delivery sector and are investigating starting points for an ergonomic evaluation of delivery processes. The aim: working better on the last mile.

On the last section of the delivery service supply chain, the so-called last mile, the goods – including parcels weighing over 30 kg – are loaded into the delivery vehicle and delivered to the end customer. The project identifies and evaluates the requirements for typical activities and process elements of parcel and group delivery. The aim is to publish findings and data on the provision of services in the service sector, to define objectively justifiable performance corridors from an occupational health and safety perspective and thus to sustainably improve processes in the delivery and delivery services sector.

Partners present first project results exclusively at LATC2024

Dr. Sascha Feldhorst, MotionMiners GmbH, and Prof. Dr. Peter Kuhlang, MTM ASSOCIATION e. V., will present the first results on “Working better on the last mile” exclusively at the LATC on 14/15 March 2024 in Mannheim. In their joint presentation on March 15, the partners will take the audience into the magical world of ACTUAL and TARGET and show how the digital determination of transaction data, AI and the application of the MTM method standard interlock. This paves the way from gut feeling to data-based facts.

EXPERIENCE live on the theme area: Motion-Mining®, AI & MTM

The theme area will then take a very practical approach. The lean community is invited to see for themselves how the digital determination of motion data using Motion-Mining®, AI and the application of the MTM method standard for work design are interlinked. Under the motto “A trio for good work – Motion Mining®, AI & MTM”, there is plenty to experience.
